Virtual Race Results

Since our competition has been on hold, several members of the club have been taking part in Virtual races over the last few months.

Various races over different distances, or set times, have been taking place and we just wanted to highlight some of the athletes that have been taking part.

Ian Sutcliffe, Ava Luke and Craig Moar took part in the British Milers Club Virtual 3km, last weekend. Ian completed it in 13.44, Ava had a time of 12.51, and Craig put in a great effort with 10.46, having just completed a virtual marathon in 3 hours 7 mins on the Friday before this!

Younger members have also been completing in several different events. Finn Aberdein has taken part in several over the last few months, and most recently completed the Virtual Hill Running event. Finn did really well and managed to climb 148.4m in 15 mins.

Then during the month of May/June 9 Under 13 athletes competed in the Virtual SUPERteams. For most of these athletes it will have been the first form of competition they had ever taken part in, so a very different experience from the ‘norm’. They took part in 4 events over 4 weeks, completing a Sprint, Jump, Throw and 800m. The boys team, consisting of James Hamilton (87th), Kian Leask (134th), Sigurd Robertson (180th), Daniel Grieve (196th)  and Nathan Smith (270th) put in a great effort with the team finishing in 37th place. The girl’s team, Jess Tulloch (13th), Madison Russell (101th), Hollie Cromarty(134th), and Ella Cracknell (225th) finished in 31st place. The athletes had great fun trying the different events every week, and are keen to compete in a new challenge soon.

We know that non-virtual competitions won’t start again until at least August, and there are new Virtual races being organised all the time. Please keep an eye out to see what is available and we would love it if more of our members became involved. Congratulations to those taking part, and we hope to see more great results in the coming weeks.
