2019 Club AGM – Wednesday, 27 March

A very warm welcome is extended to all junior and adult members, parents of junior members or anyone with an interest in athletics in Orkney to come along to the Club AGM at 7pm on 27th March in the St Magnus Suite at the Picky Centre. As well as finding out what’s been happening at the club during the last year, and the usual AGM business, there are a couple of proposals on the agenda:

1. to introduce a monthly direct debit payment system for junior members. This will mean spreading annual membership and term fee payments evenly across the year, and shifting everyone to online payments, which will hopefully be welcomed by the majority of parents. It will also reduce the number of volunteer hours currently spent chasing up outstanding payments

Unfortunately the Club currently finds itself with outstanding junior fees amounting to almost £1,000. This situation cannot continue and is unfair on those who do pay on time. Could all parents who have received letters advising of outstanding fees please pay by end March, or we may be forced to exclude your children from training or competing south.

2. to introduce a Club contribution of £15 per trip for junior athletes travelling south to compete independently of Club trips (up to a maximum of 3 trips per year)

The AGM will also see us saying cheerio to three incredibly hard working and highly valued members of the committee and of course when folks go out – we need others to step up and get involved.

We will need to fill the positions of Club Treasurer and Membership Co-ordinator, and we are also looking for senior members (or interested individuals) to help with the 2019 Road Run events.

We are well aware that encouraging attendance at AGMs is a hard sell but the Club’s success depends on members and parents being willing to give something back.

So, please mark the AGM date in your calendar and come along; join in the discussion; share your ideas; and show your support.

Thank you!
